One of the most elusive mentalism effects is The Psych Force. That is, riffling a shuffled deck and forcing a card the subject sees. Superstar ,Chan Canasta built his reputation on this effect. David Blaine filled his bank account with this concept alone. Still, very few mentalists have spent the time to learn this force properly. Why is that?

There are so many problems associated with this technique, that trying it in the field almost assures failure.

Sometimes the failure is based on the audience member. Some people will not follow your instructions. Others will think of their favorite card. And still others won't understand what you want them to do or they just don't pay attention to the cards.

Other times the failure is based on an inaccurate understanding of the handling. They'll riffle too fast, or too slow, or they'll show more than one card.

The final nail in the coffin of this method is when it's performed so obviously that the volunteer isn't fooled at all.

Imagine being able to tell a subject to merely “THINK OF A CARD” and actually force it on them! That’s what you’ll learn here. No playing cards are used. A fully free choice of any card they can imagine. Yet, your psychological parameters direct them to choose a card YOU HAVE IN MIND.

To many mentalists the impromptu design duplication effect is a Holy Grail. This Deep Secret is why I use the word virtual.

You and the subject have blank business cards. You both draw a simple picture. They are the same designs!

So, technically, there are props, business cards and a marker. But virtually, it’s propless. Now, anywhere you can duplicate what a person draws on a blank business card.

Near Dark

I will teach the attendees of Docc's Deep Secrets Workshop an unreleased effect.

Near Dark is based on a past genius in mentalism, Dr. Nathan Stark. Before walk around mentalism was thought to be possible, Dr. Stark would walk up to a table, have a subject think of any playing card, and write down his thought on a piece of paper. Of course, he billet and the thought of card matched! Dr. Stark had the confidence to repeat this effect at the same table, the same audience and a different subject.
